description This work is devoted to the study of an interesting growth trend of the accumulative resource potential of iron quartzite deposits in the space of the Kremenchuk Iron Ore District, which are being developed and explored to different degree by the Ferrexpo group of companies. The graphical representation if the trend, also called S-curve for its particular shape, is essentially a logistic function of the indicators of a mining project. The article shows that the theoretical basis of the S-curve is the fractal concept as a physical measure of the heterogeneity of a natural object, regardless of its scale. The use of the S-curve in application to different stages of the mining project allows for identifying the riskiest areas of the deposit and explains the nature of fluctuating periodic changes in processing parameters of iron ore during the production process. The concept of the metallurgical domain as a set of mineralogical, physical and chemical elements of banded iron formations is grounded by natural limitation of their technological properties. It is proven that the intensity of project value creation depends exclusively on the types of metallurgical domains and the regularities of their distribution within the deposit. As shown, the problem of overall assessment and forecasting the quality of commercial products of the mines is much broader than simple weighted averaging of processing parameters and their extrapolation to the entire volume of the ore body. On the contrary, mining and ore beneficiation depend on the quality and reliability of the constructed geological model and the definition of metallurgical domains within the ore body. Accordingly, the S-curve helps to develop a metallurgical test map of the deposit that makes possible the production process more efficient.
