Summary:We present the valuable contribution of the Arab written sources through its great authors versed in medicine for the knowledge of bioanthropological research. Although many works of medicine generated during the classic period of Islam are not preserved, which arises about this aspect, it is extracted from the most important, it comes to contributing information that, collected with the analyzes of documented remains in funeral areas, in this case of the Andalusian Mérida, open a field that can be extrapolated to other Maqabīr studied in the Iberian Peninsula.
