| description | Introduction. In the context of the evolving digital environment, media practices hold a significant place. These practices involve the use of information and communication tools for creating and consuming specific content, as well as for establishing social connections and interactions. The authors examine media practices within the educational context as the realization of experiential activities and competencies related to human functioning in digital culture. This is achieved through the application of knowledge, skills, and abilities acquired by school students and university students. The purpose of this article is to analyze the potential of using media practices in the digital environment to address educational challenges. Materials and Methods. Based on the analysis of proceedings from scientific and practical conferences on media education, materials from the Internet, and the authors’ own teaching experience, media practices existing in the Russian educational space are systematized. The key method employed is case analysis, which not only consolidates the materials but also identifies prospects for media education in the digital environment. Research Results. The authors limit the scope of the examined media practices to media projects implemented in schools and universities. The article identifies several directions of media projects described in publications by researchers and practitioners. These include projects related to online journalism; projects expanding opportunities for educational and cognitive activities in various subject areas; projects fostering media literacy and critical thinking skills; creative projects; and projects aimed at addressing inclusive education and adapting content to audience needs. Based on the proposed classification, the article presents the most interesting examples of media practices. It is emphasized that media projects in education are multifaceted, combining online journalism, educational problem-solving, critical thinking development, and media creativity. Discussion and Conclusions. As a result of the analysis, the prospects for media education in the digital environment are outlined. |
