description [Objective] To explore the application value of multidisciplinary collaboration (MDT) model in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). [Methods] According to the implementation time of MDT model in the Endocrinology Department of Xi’an Ninth Hospital from April 2023, a total of 86 elderly patients with T2DM who were enrolled in the treatment from October 2022 to March 2023 were included in the control group and given routine care; 87 elderly patients with T2DM who were enrolled in the treatment from April 2023 to September 2023 were included in the observation group and given MDT model intervention. The differences of blood glucose control, social support level score, self-management efficacy score, health behavior score and quality of life score before intervention and after 6 months of intervention were compared. [Results] After 6 months of intervention, the blood glucose level and quality of life score of the two groups were decreased (P < 0.05), and the MDT group was lower than the control group (P < 0.05). The social support score, self-management efficacy score and health behavior score of the two groups were increased, and the MDT group was higher than the control group (P < 0.05). [Conclusion] The implementation of MDT model in elderly T2DM patients can not only control the blood glucose level of patients, but also improve the social support level and self-management efficacy of patients, and further improve the health behavior and quality of life of patients.
