Description
Summary:The work presented here is based on an original ESD project in which students are asked to design a new living space - one that remains fictitious, but involves radically transforming their territory to make it pleasant and sustainable. After having dreamt their territory, then transformed it by introducing constraints and asking themselves questions, the students meet local actors, experts in their field, at a forum. During a role-playing game, which is the high point of this process, they are invited to take on the role of these experts and to develop an argument for the establishment of an amusement park in their neighbourhood. The aim of this article is to identify the conditions that foster the development of students' creative and critical thinking. The analysis of the creative process is explored from the point of view of divergent and convergent thinking. Critical thinking is approached from the angle of the argumentation of which it is the manifestation. The conditions of argumentation and the knowledge mobilized for its construction are analysed.
