Cet article traite de Chaka de Thomas Mofolo et de Song of Steel d'Andrew Ekwuru. Il vise à analyser et à promouvoir l'utilisation des croyances et des mythes locaux afin de mieux comprendre la cosmogonie africaine. Pour y parvenir,nous avons sollicité la lexicométrie interprétative de Pierre Fiala et la dialogique onto-véridictoire de Rastier en vue d'effectuer l'étude des plans sémantiques relatifs aux croyances. Chaka et Song of Steel, permettent de comprendre à la fois la mauvaise perception de la cosmogonie traditionnelle due à la faible présence des langues locales dans la littérature africaine, et l'importance de l'empreinte onomastique de la cosmogonie africaine qui détermine l'identité africaine.
