| Summary: | Nutcracker syndrome is an uncommon condition caused by extrinsic compression of the left renal vein (LRV) between the superior mesenteric artery and aorta. Patients often present with flank pain and haematuria. Open surgical repair with LRV transposition is the most frequently described surgical treatment. This requires LRV mobilization, division of tributaries, transposition or bypass, and, when extra length is required to enable a tension-free repair, additional incisions for autologous vein harvest. We present a successful case of surgical treatment of nutcracker syndrome by renocaval bypass using cadaveric vein homograft. |
