INVESTIGATION OF THE MINERALOGICAL PROPERTIES OF GOLD DEPOSITS (USING THE EXAMPLE OF THE SHOKPAR DEPOSIT)

The Chokpar deposit is located in the Kendyktas mountains in the Kordai district of Zhambyl region, Kazakhstan. The research has established that the Chokpar deposit belongs to the hydrothermal, moderately-sulfide quartz-vein type and the type of mineralized fault zones within carbonaceous-clay and...

description The Chokpar deposit is located in the Kendyktas mountains in the Kordai district of Zhambyl region, Kazakhstan. The research has established that the Chokpar deposit belongs to the hydrothermal, moderately-sulfide quartz-vein type and the type of mineralized fault zones within carbonaceous-clay and carbonaceous-siliceous sediments of the Shcherbakty suite of the Lower-Middle Ordovician, intersected by small intrusive bodies and dikes of varied composition. In the "Eastern" part of the Chokpar deposit, rod-like quartz veins are found in mineralized zones. Five zones of gold-quartz-sulfide mineralization of sublatitudinal orientation have been identified, extending up to 3.0 km with a thickness of up to 20 m, containing gold at 3.0-10.0 g/t and silver up to 200.0 g/t. Associated elements such as copper (approximately up to 1.0%), lead (0.2-3.0%), zinc (0.4%), and arsenic (0.6%) are also present. The deposits are underexplored and classified as small based on a preliminary reserve calculation down to a depth of 50 m.
