Description
Summary:This study highlights the singular importance of the Athena magazine as an aesthetic x-ray of Fernando Pessoa's work. Its focus is directed towards the emergence of Alberto Caeiro in the magazine, in 1925, through a comparison with the detailed testimony regarding the inclusion of poem XLVI in Brazil's largest college entrance exam in 2008. An expert on Pessoa and one of the examiners of that test, Professor Antônio Nogueira, when analyzing the question that includes the mentioned poem, reveals an omission in its formulation. Based on his observations, the essay emphasizes the different meanings that this poem assumes in the selection of 23 texts from Athena, in the complete set of The Keeper of Sheep, as well as in the excerpt presented in the mentioned exam.
