| Summary: | The history of translation is a meandering and often conflictual one, as is the case with other sciences. Over time, debates have centered on the prevalence of units and structures in the language and their aesthetic impact. Further on, ideologies have intervened, which have also distorted the message of the original text. In the case of the literary text, the message merges with the channel of communication. The possible justifications for the excessive intervention of the translator, who comes to perceive himself as a co-author of the target text, are only tenable insofar as they improve the source text. This may occur in the case of mediocre texts. Masterpieces, i.e. literary texts of high semantic-linguistic complexity, will always lose in the translation process. The present research aims to clarify some stages in the history of translation studies, as well as to present a mini-synthesis of translations of Romanian literature into Hispanic literature. Also, some analyses of the translation of literary texts from different stages of Romanian literature are offered. |
