Description
Summary:Abstract. The argument of this research is that the church has a moral and ethical responsibility to conduct political education through discourse on political ethics in public spaces. This is based on historical facts that the Cristianity since the independence movement until now has had potential power and significant influence in politics in Indonesia. This research used the hermeneutic phenomenology method in the context of socio-political history. The result of the research showed that the church is quite proactive in responding to national and state issues in the Reformation Era, but it is still not optimal to conduct discourse on political ethics in public spaces. The political role of the church in general is still limited to carrying out liturgical ritual activities, praying together, and issuing formal shepherding calls at every election event.
