Description
Summary:Soropositive mothers face a number of difficulties. Because of that, we aimed at investigating the reactions of mother at the moment they are informed that they bear HIV/AIDS. We chose ethno-nursing as a method. Using the O-P-R model, we invited 14 mothers who agreed to participate in the study. Based on the analysis of the findings, we heard the following cultural themes: “not to tell anybody”, “I only thought of my kids and now I am resigned”. We noticed that fear, discrimination, poverty, among other aggravating circumstances were the main difficulties faced. We concluded that, despite the difficulties, they could be important allies in the struggle against AIDS and for education in order to live a better life.
