description The LGTBIQ+ issue is one of the things that has been addressed the most in Peruvian cinema in recent decades. However, in several of these films the same discourse will be repeated, in which dissenting sexual identities are represented in terms of social disability, that is, homosexuals are considered as individuals who do not have the capacity to face the various circumstances that it is assumed that one lives in a heteropatriarchal world, which results in a presentation of stories of lives marked by weakness, helplessness or misfortune. The following article intends to demonstrate that this cinema stages a discourse of failure. To prove the above, three Peruvian films that address this theme are analyzed: Pecado (2007) by Palito Ortega, Contracorriente (2009) by Javier Fuentes-León and Retablo (2017) by Álvaro Delgado-Aparicio.
