Description
Summary:Relevance. Ekaterinburg pays a lot of attention to creating its own unique visual image. The easiest way to embody the visual image of the city is a souvenir. The author identifies several areas of research that are of particular relevance: firstly, the problem of finding ideas for designing a city souvenir; secondly, the influence of the processes of time and the semantic structures of urban space on the conceptuality of the souvenir. The purpose of the article is to study the representation of the visual image of the urban space through the design of a souvenir. The objectives of the study are: designation of semantic points of contact "image of the place of urban space" and "design of a souvenir"; Souvenir design as a phenomenon of memory of semantic associations of residents and guests of the city at the mention of a specific territory. The methodological basis of the study included a systematic approach and semiotics. The author considers the interactions "man-object" occurring within a certain urban space of the subject-object environment, cognizable with the help of semantic-semiological practices. In addition to the architectural and industrial components in Ekaterinburg, one can single out the semiotic configurability of the binary oppositions "good/bad", "male/female", "upper/lower", "shore/pond", "city/suburb", etc. Exploring these oppositions, the author looks for basic metaphors to describe one or another visual image of the urban space, reflected in the souvenirs representing the city. Yekaterinburg is a conglomeration of codes that allow you to read it (coloristic / olfactory / sound / verbal / visual). Results and conclusions. Monuments, urban legends and other texts of the city are the messages that allow us to create an image of a place. They have a certain set of inherent properties that create a certain semantic space around the monument with a set of ritual actions and signs. Souvenirs can be thought of as bits of information that form a kind of stable grid of semantic constants. Therefore, in order for a souvenir to be in demand, its form of culture, design must develop along with the urban space.
