Summary:Agricultural land fertilization expenditure has evolved significantly in the European Union (EU27) and in Romania, reflecting economic, technological and regulatory changes in the agricultural sector. Differences in fertilization expenditures, depending on the economic size of farms, are particularly relevant in the analysis of expenditures and profitability in agriculture. The methods and indicators used allow a comprehensive assessment of the performance of agriculture in Romania in relation to the EU27 average. By using these methods, not only general trends can be identified, but also specific aspects that require improvement, such as economic efficiency, agricultural productivity and resource use. The indicators provided are relevant for both short-term and long-term analysis, thus facilitating better strategic planning for the development of the agricultural sector. The analysis of the evolution of expenditure on the fertilization of agricultural land by classes of economic size in the EU27 and in Romania highlights a trend of increasing expenditure, influenced by multiple variables, including the economic size of farms, access to technology, and agricultural policies. To ensure the sustainability and competitiveness of agriculture, it is essential to adopt measures to support small and medium-sized farms in accessing the resources and technologies needed to optimize fertilization expenditure.
