Summary:The aim of this paper is to introduce to the broader readership sport dynamics within the Western Balkans from different perspective. Authors have been keen to explore a number of different topics, mostly associated with the post conflict period, however, the limited data is available on the character of civic participation and social cohesion in and through sport ecosystem. This paper reflects the background of development of sport-related institutional regime and appropriate organizational structure. The historical aspect is of particular interest as it is necessary to comprehend the changing context, structure and composition of organized sport along with opportunities for civic participation. Further, the internal dynamics within sport ecosystem will be presented as part of the socio-political realm.
