| Summary: | This introduction situates the collection “Franco-Chinese Convergences: The Value of Transcultural Creativity” in relation to existing secondary literature and broader debates within Transcultural Studies. It explores the evolution of international public opinion towards China as the backdrop for the creative practices produced by francophone Chinese writers, artists and other creative practitioners over the last twenty years. It also discusses the development of the field of research in the same period, involving new approaches based in the Medical Humanities, Food Studies, zoopoetics, ecocriticism, visual arts, intermedial studies and literary criticism through a presentation of the three sections of the collection. While the first revolves around the question of the plurality of the artists’ positions, which goes beyond the binary relationship between France and China, the second section reflects on cultural production as a transformative act putting the inner world of the migrant into a meaningful relationship with the outside world, whether human or non-human. Finally, the third section observes and evaluates the increasingly important role of the visual arts within franco-Chinese artistic production. RÉSUMÉ Cette introduction situe le collectif « Convergences franco-chinoises: la valeur de la créativité transculturelle » par rapport au discours critique actuelle et aux débats plus larges au sein des études transculturelles. Elle explore l’évolution de l’opinion publique internationale à l’égard de la Chine comme toile de fond des pratiques créatives produites par les écrivains, artistes et autres créateurs chinois francophones au cours des vingt dernières années. Elle aborde également le développement du champ de recherche, relatif à la même période, impliquant de nouvelles approches basées sur les humanités médicales, les études sur l’alimentation et les pratiques alimentaires, la zoopoétique, l’écocritique, les arts visuels, les études intermédiales et la critique littéraire, à travers une présentation des trois sections du dossier thématique. Alors que la première s’articule autour de la question de la pluralité de la position des artistes qui dépasse la relation binaire entre la France et la Chine, la deuxième section réfléchit à la production culturelle en tant qu’acte transformateur mettant le monde intérieur du migrant dans une relation significative avec le monde extérieur, qu’il soit humain ou non-humain. Enfin, la troisième section observe et évalue le rôle de plus en plus important des arts visuels dans la production artistique franco-chinoise.
