Description
Summary:For the problem of lower performance of supercapacitors based on activated carbon, according to a working principle of an electric double layer capacitor, activated carbon electrodes with mass fractions of 60%, 65%,70%,75% and 80% were prepared by a powder compression technology. Activated carbon, acetylene black,PTFE with the mass fraction of 15% and isopropanol were used as raw materials. The specific capacitance, the specific energy and the specific power of the activated carbon electrodes were analyzed through cyclic voltammetry tests with scanning rates at 5 mV/s,10 mV/s,20 mV/s,50 mV/s,100 mV/s and 200 mV/s. The results show that the specific capacitance is 189. 3 F /g and the specific energy is 26. 3 W·h /kg when the mass fraction of activated carbon is 70% and the scanning rate is 5 mV/s. The specific power is 916. 6 W/kg when the mass fraction of activated carbon is 70% and the scanning rate is 20 mV/s. This study confirms the optimal ratio of the mass fraction of activated carbon is 70%,providing an important reference for preparation of supercapacitors based on activated carbon electrodes.
