| description | Based on interviews with agricultural players in the Ile-de-France region, this article examines farmers' motivations and resistance to implementing an agro-ecological transition. The main levers for changing agricultural models are the shared observation that extreme climatic events are accelerating, the desire to pass on a sustainable farm and the sharing of experience with other neighboring farmers who have implemented transition approaches. The main obstacle to a change in practices lies in the language that creates barriers between farmers who use ecological concepts (biodiversity, ecosystems) more commonly used by organic farmers, and so-called conventional farmers who use a vocabulary derived from agronomy. Although the reference to drought (very strong during the inquiries) is a common point between these categories of farmers, behind these languages lie very different ways of conceiving the world, knowledge and relationships with the collective, which make it difficult for conventional farmers to adopt more ecological practices. |
