| Summary: | In this study, we performed a systematic review to evaluate the efficacy of Rowatinex® and Renotinex®, two almost similar terpene combination in managing urolithiasis. After searching various databases, thirty-one studies of different types and settings were chosen for full review. We selected six efficacy indicators to assess the success of these products in treatment. The data for each efficacy indicator were categorized based on quality levels using John Hopkins evidence-based practice tool. The results indicated that this terpene combination may enhance the rate of spontaneous stone expulsion compared to a placebo or when added to the standard urolithiasis management regimen. This result is supported by good evidence and consistent results. We also found good and consistent evidence for the efficacy of Rowatinex® and Renotinex® in reducing pain intensity and occurrence in the setting of urolithiasis. Additionally, using these products as supplements to standard medications may shorten treatment duration. However, the available data regarding other efficacy indicators are conflicting or inconclusive. While further well-organized studies are needed, it appears that adding Rowatinex® or Renotinex® to standard urolithiasis management can benefit patients and improve treatment outcomes. The method employed in this study can also be applied to evaluate the efficacy of other natural products for urolithiasis. |
