| Summary: | Thanks to the increasing role of women’s readership, Swedish women writers in the second half of the Nineteenth century were both widely read at home and successfully translated abroad. This was also true for Italy, where novels written by women were by far the most translated group of works in the period in exam. This paper aims at analyzing the case of Emilie Flygare-Carlén’s five novels translated into Italian between 1869 and 1892, via French, as it often happens between two semi-peripheral languages such as Swedish and Italian.
