description The main trends and prospects of development of nuclear medicine, problems and possible ways of their solution are considered in the article. The main scientific directions in the development of radiopharmaceuticals for the diagnosis and radionuclide therapy of malignant tumors (radiopharmaceuticals that can accumulate in tissues surrounding the tumor; radiopharmaceuticals that can accumulate on the membranes of tumor cells, radiopharmaceuticals that can accumulate in tumor cells, radiopharmaceuticals for sentinel lymph nodes detection). It is shown that the current trends in the development of nuclear medicine are closely related to theranostics (therapy + diagnostics) using radiopharmaceuticals obtained on the basis of a target compound labeled with different isotopes intended for diagnosis or therapy. In nuclear medicine, such tandems are used to individualize and plan of radionuclide therapy. The results of our own research on the development of radiopharmaceuticals for tumor imaging and detection of sentinel lymph nodes are presented. The functional utility of radiopharmaceuticals and the prospects of their clinical use are shown.
