description This article analyzes a set of Latin American texts of the 21st century that disdain work to claim the effectiveness of free time and unproductiveness. The journey through these writings and their grouping in the same reality show a series of common formal characteristics, such as the use of digression, the relevance of a militant language opposed to the official discourse or generic hybridity. From a thematic perspective, the aforementioned works reveal tired subjects who, from their stubborn political position, appeal to leisure as a confrontation with neoliberal and late-capitalist logics, thus vindicating the joy of contemplative life.
