Summary:Although national unity appears to be increasing, relatively little is known about whether this aligns with increased hopefulness about society in the future. Using data from the Survey Series on People and their Communities, this short article summarizes findings of new measures on hopefulness about society in relation to unity, as measured by respondents' feelings of connectedness to Canadians in general. A unique feature of this article is the focus on societal future outlook.
