Description
Summary:This work is the continuation of a previous study concerning the relations of the Infants of Lara legend with a special kind of Indo- European epic tradition (about brotherly squads) which was well established in Celtic culture. The point is now to show that the typological and functional characteristics of the half-breed bastard Mudarra, as well as the story of his birth and early achievements, make him the like of the Celtic god Lugus and of the epic heroes connected with him. In the subsequent second part of this work will be adduced some clues and evidences related to the possible legendary and ritual Celtic roots of the Spanish epic of the Seven Infants, which seems to proceed from a region whose folklore and local antiquities bear many marks of this cultural legacy.
