Description
Summary:Derussification of the post-Soviet area was initiated with the collapse of the Soviet Union. In the Republic of Kazakhstan under the first President Nursultan Nazarbayev, the removal of elements of Russianness was uneven and limited. The change to the presidency in 2019 brought changes in this aspect. The main focus of the paper is to analyze the measures taken by the new head of state Kassym Jomart Tokayev between 2019 and 2023, bearing the hallmarks of derussification in political, economic and social aspects. The aim of the study is to determine whether the new president has intensified the process of the derussification of the republic. It was possible to find the answer by analyzing policies centered around language, history, security and the economy in terms of neutralizing Russian influence.
