| Summary: | Since Poland became a member of the European Union, the institutional forms of care of young and preschool children were aligned with the standards applied in the EU countries. This was necessary during the transition to a market economy as the number of young child care institutions was the smallest among the other EU states. Only children who were about to start school education were provided with one-year preparatory course in the existing preschool framework. |
