| Summary: | <strong><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;"><strong><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;"><p>Resumen</p></span></strong></span></strong><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;"><p>La necesidad de ejecutar la investigación está dada por los fallos recurrentes que están presentando</p><p>las bombas centrífugas horizontales que interrumpen el proceso de la planta de alquilación y al</p><p>impacto económico asociado a los fallos que han tenido un elevado costo por acciones de</p><p>mantenimiento preventivas y reactivas, en adición a los costos asociados por pérdida de</p><p>oportunidad. Se llevó a cabo un estudio para establecer las causas que originan los reiterados fallos</p><p>ocurridos en el sistema de bombeo. These failures interrupt the operating process in an alkylation plant and</p><p>generate a great negative economic impact because of incrementing maintenance costs and</p><p>opportunity losses. A study was carried out in order to establish the main causes of repeated failures</p><p>in the pumping system. As a result, several improvement opportunities of availability of pumps were</p><p>identified by increasing the useful life of their mechanical seals.
