| Summary: | A thorough knowledge of the root and the root canal morphology of all existing canals plays a significant role in determining the success of endodontic treatment. Anatomic symmetry of root and root canal morphology should be expected when the dentist treats the same tooth type on both the right and left sides of the same patient since one of the most common causes of root canal treatment failure is a missed main or extra canal in the tooth. Knowledge of bilateral symmetry when treating opposing teeth in the same patient is crucial, as it enables dentists to predict the presence of additional roots or canals on the opposite side of the already treated tooth. This paper presented some cases of rare morphological variations with bilateral symmetry in maxillary first and second premolars and second mandibular molars that were successfully treated endodontically. |
