| Summary: | The article, written on the basis of material found in the archives of Moscow, St. Petersburg and Vladivostok, presents the results of the first year of the research project “Military Theme in the Architectural and Spatial Development of the Far East” supported by a grant from the Russian Science Foundation. Construction work commissioned by the naval department in the Amur Military District is considered on the example of the activities of the District Engineering Directorate and military construction committees. The main part of the text is devoted to the history of the Amur River Flotilla base in the Osipovsky backwater near Khabarovsk, including base development stages, risk factors, planning solution, architecture of crew buildings, and improvements. The importance of actualizing the historical heritage of the naval department as the basis of the Far Eastern cultural landscape is emphasized. |
