description This work focuses on the argumentative techniques that Alejo Venegas de Busto, a 16th century moralist from Toledo, uses in his writings. The analysis of a corpus of various texts written by this author, from the most widespread to the least known, allows us to understand how, using the resources provided by dialectic, Venegas tries to fight against three evils of the Spanish society of his time: the ignorance of a large part of the Spaniards, the outbreak of Lutheranism in the country, finally the religious prejudices of many of his contemporaries in what regards blood purity or rejection of new Christians. To argument in order to convince: an art in which Alejo Venegas excels, as this study demonstrates.
