Objetivo: identificar el nivel de conocimiento que poseen los estomatólogos y técnicos, sobre las enfermedades de ITS/VIH/sida y sus vías de contagio en la consulta estomatológica de la Clínica Mario Pozo Ochoa del municipio Holguín. Métodos: se realizó un estudio descriptivo de corte transversal en los Servicios Estomatológicos de enero a septiembre de 2012. Se estudiaron 28 estomatólogos y 20 técnicos. Se aplicaron instrumentos como una encuesta y entrevistas con previo consentimiento informado, los datos arrojados se procesaron a través de tablas y gráficos para su mejor comprensión. Resultados: los estomatólogos que se estudiaron tuvieron más conocimientos sobre las enfermedades de trasmisión sexual que el personal técnico, lo que representó el 80%, no así en las vías de transmisión que fueron identificadas por los técnicos de atención estomatológica, que representó el 70% y el 30% sobre los riesgos que tienen estas infecciones para la salud. Es necesario continuar con acciones educativas y de capacitación para elevar el nivel de conocimientos de todo el personal técnico y profesional sobre la temática, y así lograr un mejor servicio. Conclusiones: los estomatólogos y técnicos conocían las enfermedades de ITS/VIH/sida y sus vías de infección, el grupo de mayor conocimiento fue el de los médicos, debido a los años de experiencia en la especialidad. ABSTRACT
Introduction: The Stomatology is a specialty of risks regarding transmitted diseases, for this reason the knowledge on them and its transmission ways are indispensable to avoid new infections in the dentistry professionals. Objective: to identify the level of knowledge that the dentists and Technicians had, on STI/HIV/AIDS illnesses and their infection ways, at Mario Pozo Ochoa Dental Clinic of Holguin Municipality.
Methods: a descriptive cross-sectional study at Stomatology service, from January to September 2012 was carried out. 28 Stomatologists and 20 Technicians were studied. A survey and interviews were applied with previous informed consent; the data were processed in tables and graphics for their best understanding.
Results: the studied stomatologists (80%) had better knowledges on the illnesses of sexual transmission than the technical personnel. Regarding the disease transmission ways in the case of didn’t seize in the transmission roads that were identified by the technicians of Attention Estomatológicas what reprehends 70%. Discussion: The estomatólogos and interviewed technicians and interviewees know the transferable illnesses and their transmission roads, although it is necessary to continue with educational actions and of training to elevate the level of knowledge to the whole technical personnel and professional on the thematic one, and to be able to offer a better service.
Conclusion: the stmatologists and technicians knew on the STI/HIV/AIDS illnesses and their infection ways, being the doctors the professionals of more knowledge due to their years of experience in the specialty.
