Abstract: The present article examines the intellectual field in the half 20th century in Colombia from the perspective of the essay, genre in which Jorge Gaitán Durán stands out with his work on political interpretation: The invisible revolution. This piece of work is of unquestionable validity within the tradition of this literary genre in Colombia; tradition that is still waiting for more serious studies from the literary critics of our country.
