description Informal businesses are economic activities that are not registered with business registration authorities, tax authorities, and regulators. Accounting and financial management is limited, and workers typically lack formal employment contracts. The objective is to propose strategies for including informal businesses in the city of Cúcuta in the financial system. The methodology is based on a quantitative and descriptive approach, where the population is comprised of informal businesses located in the downtown area between 6th and 10th Streets and between 0th and 6th Avenues. The sampling is probabilistic and uses an infinite population equation because there are no official census data required, resulting in 138 people to be surveyed. The instrument consists of a questionnaire adapted from the 2018 informal business characterization developed by the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce. The results present a characterization of these informal businesses based on personal and socioeconomic circumstances, as well as information on the length of their tenure, the physical space where they are located, ownership of the premises, the number of owners, and their motivations for carrying out their work. Critical factors and variables that influence financial inclusion are then determined, which is used as an analytical framework to structure a proposal that helps promote education, consulting, and institutional collaboration, including banking, universities, and business development institutions. The conclusion is that this issue requires a comprehensive approach that simultaneously integrates the educational and financial sectors to ensure that businesses are formalized and remain on the path to growth and compliance with current regulations.
