| Summary: | Miriam Astruc is one of the most unexplored and poorly studied scholars of the Punic archaeology of the first half of the 20th century, especially regarding her personal sphere. She can be considered key to the methodological renewal of the discipline developed in Spain between the 1930s and 1950s in instrumental sites such as Villaricos or Ibiza. This paper examines unpublished or little-known aspects of her biography and, above all, her research career path in Spain (divided into two stages), from her first steps in Cádiz and Villaricos to her last excavations in Ibiza. On the basis of unpublished letters and archive documentation, new data on her relationship with other scholars and prominent academics of the time is provided, as well as details of her close collaboration with Pelayo Quintero Atauri in Cadiz and with José María Mañá de Ángulo in the island of Ibiza. |
