description The problem of minimizing the mass of rotary transfer machine by placing a batch of workpieces at the rotary table is considered. To solve this problem the mathematical model and heuristic PSO algorithm are proposed. The results of numerical experiments for series of real problems are reported. The experiments revealed that the PSO algorithm on average is more effective for the solution of the problem compared to methods of random search and LP-search.
