Description
Summary:Abstract Background: The 10-item Obstetric Quality-of-Recovery (ObsQoR-10) scale is a validated patient-reported outcome questionnaire that measures the quality of inpatient recovery following delivery. We aimed to evaluate the validity, reliability, and feasibility of a Malay version of the ObsQoR-10 scoring tool (ObsQoR-10-Malay). Materials and Methods: We translated the Malay version and recruited term patients undergoing elective caesarean delivery. EQ-5D-3L (health status), Hospital Depression and Anxiety Scale (HADS; depression and anxiety), Pain Catastrophizing Scale (PCS; pain catastrophizing), and Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS; postnatal depression) questionnaires were completed. We assessed the correlation between ObsQoR-10-Malay and length of hospital stay and maternal age. Results: Sixty-one patients were recruited, and data from 56 patients who completed ObsQoR-10-Malay after delivery were analyzed (response rate 91.8%). Validity: The ObsQoR-10-Malay discriminated between good and poor recovery (EQ-5D-3L visual analog scale (VAS) < 70: 58.8 (standard deviation [SD] 16.4); VAS ≥ 70: 68.3 (SD 11.2), and correlated with EQ-5D-3L VAS score (r = 0.4114; P < 0.0001), HADS-anxiety (r = 0.6056, P < 0.0001), and PCS-magnification (r = 0.4994, P < 0.0001). ObsQoR-10-Malay scores did not correlate with length of hospital stay (r = 0.0440) and maternal age (r = 0.1568). Reliability: It performed well in internal consistency (Cronbach α = 0.89); test–retest reliability was good (intraclass correlation coefficient = 0.845); split-half reliability was 0.612, which demonstrated no flooring or ceiling effects in total scores. Conclusions: The ObsQoR-10-Malay is a valid and reliable measure to quantify dimensions of functional recovery in the early postpartum period after caesarean delivery in the Malay population.
