Description
Summary:There is a remarkable object, bearing the accession number AF 13446, in the reserve collection of the Department of Egyptian Antiquities at the Musée du Louvre. Inscribed with the name of a certain King Menkheperre, it takes the general shape of a dagger blade. The present article includes a detailed description of this atypical object; a few lines are also devoted to the two analogues that are known to exist. The authenticity of the three unusual-looking objects is then discussed. Finally, hypotheses are formulated about their dating, nature and function, assuming that the objects are indeed ancient.
