Description
Summary:This paper presents an intervention methodology to influence how work is organized in a context of lean-manufacturing production systems. To meet the demands of several industrial companies experiencing musculoskeletal problems and stress during or after the implementation of a lean organization, we had to design a new intervention methodology. We based our theoretical framework on two concepts: the work of organization and the development of activity. We grounded our study in the literature which deals with the effects of lean on health and with how the work of organisation impacts these effects, in order to identify the organisational lean devices which have paradoxical effects on health in work situations. The dimension of continuous improvement to lean manufacturing and the ambivalence of certain devices led us to ask us questions about the acts that lead to this organization, i.e. to the task of organizing. After presenting the intervention methodology we built to develop this work of organization, we will see that new research questions emerge, paving the way for future Intervention-research.
