Description
Summary:The growing problem of gout is beginning to raise questions about how we can effectively prevent this disease. This work examines the effect of urate-lowering therapy on preventing the onset of a first episode of gout—an effect that is not entirely clear, despite the fact that such therapy is an essential tool for controlling gout flares. A growing database allows us to analyze the impact of hyperuricemia, which has so far been presumed to be a major contributor to the development of gout, and assess its actual impact on the development of the disease.
