description Sociability in the Ṣan’âni society has been transformed by the massive arrival of migrants from the countryside. This exposure to variety is a recent phenomenon and confines traditional sociability of urban villages to the between-us. This article analyzes the effects of the installation of a rural and heterogeneous population on the sociability of an old urban community, showing how the social and spatial behavior of the migrants - which nowadays make up the majority of the Ṣan’âni population - have caused a major identity change at city scale.
