| Summary: | Persistent fetal vasculature (PFV), previously known as persistent hyperplastic primary vitreous, is a rare congenital ocular anomaly, wherein the hyaloid vasculature fails to regress after birth. We report a case of congenital lenticular neovascularization in a 5-month-old baby with unilateral microcornea, nondilating pupil, dense white cataract, and microphthalmos in the affected eye. B-scan revealed retrolental membranous echoes, and he was found to have profuse lenticular neovascularization and retinal detachment after lensectomy. PFV can have a poor visual prognosis due to the resultant amblyopia and must be followed up at regular intervals to assess vision and ocular health postoperatively. |
