Description
Summary:Growing global energy demand and increasing environmental concerns make the new energy systems attract much attention. Although lithium-ion batteries dominate electrochemical energy storage, the scarcity of lithium resources leads to high costs and limitations in their own performance. Sodium-ion batteries can make up for some of the shortcomings of lithium-ion batteries. The performance of sodium-ion batteries is contingent upon the type of cathode material utilized. This paper systematically introduces the structures of three types of cathode materials, namely, transition metal oxides, polyanionic compounds and Prussian blue compounds. This paper compares the differences in electrochemical properties due to different structures. This paper compares the advantages and shortcomings of the materials with different structures in terms of energy storage and safety. This paper describes the progress and challenges during the research of cathode materials of sodium-ion batteries. This paper looks forward to the development trend of the materials in large-scale energy storage and other aspects.
