Description
Summary:In this text, I will present the results of qualitative research using the individual interview method, which I conducted with musically gifted children, functioning in a rural and small town environment. I wanted to find out what thoughts about the needs of children have based on musical experiences gained at school (the research objective). The subject of the undertaken research were children’s reflections on needs. Innate cognitive and aesthetic needs make musically gifted children seek opportunities to satisfy them by exploring the world of music, especially by engaging in singing, playing instruments or dancing. These activities allow them to learn about phenomena that strongly engage the sense of hearing and cause motor reactions. The desire to fulfill a given need causes children to undertake musical activities for simple pleasure and satisfaction. However, it turns out that school, where they spend a significant part of their time, is not a convenient place to satisfy cognitive and aesthetic needs.
