Summary:This article first introduces the sources and literature it is based on. This is followed by an outline of the history of courses taught at the Institute of Public Education and Journalism: library science, journalism, and public education. After a description of the circumstances under which the Institute was created, the main part of the study describes the Institute’s development in various areas. It covers the space where it was housed, the personnel situation, admissions, the development of the number of graduates, problematic studies in the course of public education, science and research, a reform of academic education, the creation of new departments, and the Institute’s library. At the end of the article, the author outlines the Institute’s transformation into a Faculty of Public Education and Journalism.
