Genealogical analysis of pedigree heifers of the Flekvieh breed imported from Germany

Heterogeneous pair selection was performed on the amount of milk of the imported Flekvieh pedigree heifers mothers (M) and fathers’ mothers (FM) and the genetic capacity of the milk quantity of the heifers mothers was 8993 kg, milk fat content 4.2%, milk protein content 3.56%, milk fat + milk protei...

Description
Summary:Heterogeneous pair selection was performed on the amount of milk of the imported Flekvieh pedigree heifers mothers (M) and fathers’ mothers (FM) and the genetic capacity of the milk quantity of the heifers mothers was 8993 kg, milk fat content 4.2%, milk protein content 3.56%, milk fat + milk protein quantity 696 kg. According to the researches, it was found that the heifers of the high-value Flekvieh breed imported to the leading beef farms of the Republic of Armenia show 65% of the genetic capacity for the amount of milk in the first calving, and from them, 5806 kg, 6444 kg in the 2nd calving, and 7721 kg of milk are expected in the 3rd calving. The data of the study indicate that the fathers of the heifers were considered to be improvers with milk forage, so insemination of cows with milk yield below 8000 kg with their semen will contribute to the improvement of progeny and herd forage properties. The pedigree certificates of the heifers indicate the property numbers of the fathers of the expected progeny from the heifers, but lack the ancestry and forage data, therefore the genetic potential for forage of the expected progeny cannot be determined, which causes selection and mating problems for the progeny.
