French Abstract :
Introduction- La sexualité des jeunes est devenue une préoccupation de santé publique dans le monde. L’objectif de cette étude était d’identifier les perceptions et les attitudes qui entourent l’utilisation du préservatif chez les étudiants camerounais.
Matériels et méthodes- Il s’agissait d’une étude qualitative basée sur la théorie du comportement planifié. Les entretiens de groupes avaient été réalisés auprès de 72 étudiants.
Résultats-Les participants ont identifié : a) quatre avantages de l’utilisation du préservatif et huit inconvénients à son utilisation ;
b) cinq groupes de personnes qui approuveraient l’utilisation du préservatif et quatre groupes de personnes qui désapprouveraient l’utilisation du préservatif ;
c) sept facteurs qui faciliteraient l’utilisation du préservatif et six facteurs qui ne faciliteraient l’utilisation du préservatif.
Conclusion-Les résultats de cette étude aident à comprendre le comportement sexuel des étudiants et à expliquer la cause des rapports sexuels non protégés.
English Abstract:
Introduction- Youth sexuality has become a public health concern world wide. The objective of this study was to identify the perceptions and attitudes surrounding condom use among-Cameroonian students.
Materials and methods- This was a qualitative study based on the theory of planned behavior. Group interviews were conducted with 72 students.
Results- Participants identified: a) four advantages of condom use and eightdisadvantages of condom use; b) five groups of people whowouldapprove of condom use and four groups of people whowoulddisapprove of condom use; c) sevenfactorsthatwouldfacilitate condom use and six factorsthatwould not facilitate condom use.
Conclusion- The results of this study help to understand the sexual behavior of college students and explain the cause of un protected sex.
