| description | In this study, we addressed the imperative need to have a psychologist with special training
accompany the minor during the judicial process. Minors are generally highly sensitive
emotionally and face difficulties in controlling their emotions. Under these difficult conditions
they frequently exhibit intense feelings and emotions such as: anger, agitation, anxiety,
blockage, shame, confusion, annoyance, mental exhaustion, depression, lack of defense, etc.
For this reason, the persons conducting the hearing must be familiar both with, the general
legal provisions regulating the hearing of minor victims and with the special regulations
applicable to such hearings. Additionally, it is essential that they possess solid knowledge
of the psychology of child development and master special techniques for interviewing children
who are victims of crimes. Conducting the hearing of a minor under special conditions by an inadequately trained person may result in obtaining false or incomplete statements and re-traumatizing the child. |
