Description
Summary:This article will evaluate Central Asian history studies on the 13th-16th centuries during the republican period as part of General Turkish History research. The study will first address the scope and use of the concepts of Central Asia and Turkestan and then mention the first and second generation of historians who’ve worked in this field. The study will then emphasize the effects the developments in the world and the conditions in Türkiye had on historical research and point out how research topics had expanded. This study does not aim to create a bibliography of the research in this field. The list of doctoral theses written in Türkiye about the 13th through 16th centuries have been compiled from YÖKTEZ (i.e., the Council of Higher Education’s thesis and dissertation categorization system) and been given as an annex at the end of the article with the intent of reflecting the topics of study in the field.
