| description | Abstract: The theatrical experience arises from the interplay between dramatic text and performance—two foundational elements connected through a complex dialectic. This study explores the nature of this relationship, asking whether the dramatic text holds primacy by guiding performance, or whether performance asserts itself as an independent interpretive act, reshaping the text according to cultural, temporal, and spatial contexts. It also questions whether performance can be seen as an autonomous text in its own right, capable of transcending literal representation. Through an applied, comparative reading of selected theatrical models, the study demonstrates how performance reinterprets and transforms textual meaning. This approach emphasizes the composite nature of theatre as an art form that goes beyond the confines of the written script. Ultimately, the research affirms theatrical performance as a site of multiplicity—where meaning is not fixed but continuously negotiated and reimagined.
